シンガポールの建国記念日は8月9日。今年でシンガポールは54歳。

毎年NDP（National Day Parade）と呼ばれるパレードが行われ、マリーナベイ近辺は盛大に盛り上がります。

このNDPに向けて、毎年テーマソングが制作され、毎年5月22日に公開されています。

2018年は1987年のテーマソング「We Are Singapore」が31年振りにリバイバルされ、シンガポールのローカルアーティストが歌いました。

さて、2019年は、昨年に引き続き、過去のテーマソングを基にしたテーマソング「Our Singapore」。

2002年の「We Will Get There」と2015年の「Our Singapore」の過去の2つのテーマソングの歌詞を引用したミックス版です。

今回は3曲の歌詞を比較してみます。

和訳はかなり意訳していて、良く分からない点が多々あるので、分かる方、教えてください！

2019年度版

違い

1. メロディ＝2019年版より2002年版の方がポップなメロディー。レジェンドの歌手たちが歌っているので、落ち着いた雰囲気にしたみたい。
2. 歌詞＝シンガポールは多民族国家なので、一体感を出すことを目指し、our homeといった言葉を多用している。
3. 映像＝昨年の2018年度版は歌手ひとりひとりのアップが多かったのに比べ、今回はみんなで歌うことで、一体感をより演出しています。

最後に

国のテーマソングって、日本では無いものなので、違和感を感じる人もいると思います。

でも、小さく、たった54年の歴史しかない国において、国民が一体になって未来に向かって進むことは大事。

シンガポールについて、歌を通して知ることも面白い。
